Minimum 21 years (as of August 1, 2026). The government has provided a one-time 9-year relaxation in the maximum age limit.

• 1. Written Examination (OMR-Based)

  The core of the selection process is the offline written exam. There are two papers, and you must appear for the one corresponding to your target teaching level:

  • Paper I: For Primary Teachers (Classes 1–5).

  • Paper II: For Upper Primary Teachers (Classes 6–8).

  • Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes for each paper.

  • Structure: 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for 150 marks. There is no negative marking.

  2. Qualifying Marks (The Cut-off)

  To “clear” the JTET and be considered selected/qualified, you must meet the minimum percentage set by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC):

• Step 1: Registration

1. Visit the official JAC JTET portal: jtet-portal.jharkhand.gov.in (Link active from April 21).

2. Click on the “New Registration” button.

3. Enter your Basic Details: Name, Mobile Number, and Email ID.

4. You will receive an OTP on your mobile. Verify it to generate your Registration Number and Password.

• Step 2: Fill the Application Form

1. Log in using your Registration Number and Password.

2. Select the Level you are applying for:

   • Paper I (Class 1-5)

   • Paper II (Class 6-8)

   • Both Papers (If eligible for both).

3. Fill in your Personal Details: Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Gender, and Category (General/BC-I/BC-II/SC/ST/EWS).

4. Enter your Educational Qualifications: Marks and passing year of 10th, 12th, Graduation, and Teacher Training (D.El.Ed/B.Ed).

• Step 3: Upload Documents
• Scan and upload the following documents in the prescribed format (usually JPG/JPEG):

• Recent Passport Size Photograph (20KB – 50KB).

• Signature (10KB – 20KB).

• Category Certificate (If applying under reservation).

• Training Certificate/Marksheet (D.El.Ed or B.Ed).

• Step 4: Fee Payment

1. Review your application one last time before clicking ‘Submit’.

2. Click on the “Pay Fee” button.

3. Choose your payment method: Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.

4. Fees: ₹1,300 (General/OBC) or ₹700 (SC/ST) for a single paper.

• Step 5: Final Submission & Print

1. After successful payment, a Confirmation Page will be generated.

2. Download and take a printout of the application form and the payment receipt for future reference during the admit card download.
