JSSC Excise Constable Selection Process

The selection process for the JSSC Excise Constable (JECCE 2023-26) is conducted in three distinct stages. Candidates must qualify for each stage sequentially to move toward final selection.

1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

This is the first stage and is qualifying in nature. No marks are awarded for this stage; candidates are simply marked as ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail.’

  • Male: 10 KM run within 60 minutes.

  • Female: 5 KM run within 40 minutes.

2. Written Examination

Candidates who clear the PET are called for the OMR-based written test. This is the most critical stage as the marks obtained here determine the final merit list.

  • It consists of three papers (Language Knowledge, Regional Language, and General Knowledge).

  • Each paper is 2 hours long and follows a negative marking scheme (+3 for correct, -1 for wrong).

3. Medical Examination

Candidates who achieve the cut-off marks in the written exam are called for a medical check-up. The selected medical board evaluates candidates based on physical and mental health standards set by the Jharkhand Government for excise personnel (checking for conditions like knock knees, flat feet, color blindness, etc.).

Final Merit List: The final selection is based solely on the aggregate marks scored in Paper 2 and Paper 3 of the written examination, provided the candidate has qualified in Paper 1 and passed the medical exam.
